I had my first radio interview today at 12pm on ICON radio in the guild, I was quite nervous as I have never done a radio interview before but thank God it wasn’t actually that bad!
I think I was the first person to be interviewed but the guys presenting were cool, I think the interview went pretty quick but then again I don’t even know what time we started!
After the interview I went off to campaign standing outside the Harold Cohen library trying to get people to actually acknowledge me. I was trying to get them to understand why I was trying to attack them with leaflets! However many of them were in too much of a rush but nonetheless I think it went pretty well!
Many people said they weren’t actually going to vote which was really disappointing as this Guild is for the students but hopefully we can change their minds!
Please keep voting and I would appreciate it if you could vote me as #1 Trustee or even #2 if that is not possible and Maev Mcdaid #1 for President!
Thanks people :-)
Just had my LIVE slot on Icon radio to promote the campaign and despite being very nervous when I arrived (and flustered from struggling to find the studio!) I thoroughly enjoyed it and want to say thankyou very much to the Icon team for an enjoyable half hour.
I think I managed to plug myself reasonably well on the airwaves but incase I’m wrong or if anyone wasn’t able to catch the show they can read more about my campaign ideas by searching ‘Vote Laurie’ on facebook, or watch my campaign video posted below or available on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KafHv7ml3Ro, or just search ‘A Message to Liv Uni’ (apologies for the cheesy attempt at the title’s pun on the soundtrack).
Also encouraging everyone again to come to the hustings (basically Candidates’ Question Time) event in the Guild courtyard at 12pm tomorrow and tune into the rest of the ICON election shows at 12-2pm this week.
Keep voting Laurie #1!

Hi Guys, my name Is Alex Parmar-Yee and I am running to become Your Student Trustee at Your Guild. As my poster shows I aim to tackle the new student issues that have come up in the last 12 months, but I feel the priority is on the issues that Students have had for the last few years. Issues such as Academic Support, University Accommodation, Student Society Support and much more.
You can check my manifesto on the SO-Elections site or search me up on Facebook or Twitter (@Yeebles).
It would be great if you could vote for me as your number 1. But I would be happy if you just voted, as this is Your Guild & this is an opportunity to have a say in how it is run. Thanks for reading.

It’s a Kind Of Maggie
So, voting has been open for 3 days now! Eeek! It is great being out and about and having the opportunity to talk to so many students and to hear their opinions.
People obviously ask ‘why should I vote for you’. My answer to this is I have a vision. I have a vision which includes changes I want to see within the university and changes I want to push forward within the Guild. And, more importantly, I have a vision which includes YOU. It is not about me up in the office but being there, avaliable for you to talk to and to share concerns you have about your course and ideas you have for your Guild. If elected, I am in a great position to be leading the mobolisation of the student body, to get people involved and to ensure that there is communication with the students we are there to represent.
I want to ensure that there is value for money, both in the academic aspects and the student life aspects. We are not merely a statisitc and I want to be the person that you will see striving to improve parts of uni life which you are not happy with so you feel valued and not a ignored number. I want to work for and with you.
Energy, commitment and dedication to YOU and to lobbying for the changes that need to be seen is what I can promise. You will see my presence across campus. You will see me to talk to and you will see the fight I will give to make the changes.
If you vote for me, I will make things happen. I will bring a buzz to the role which won’t leave me until I achieve what I set out to do and until my time is over.
Let’s make things happen!
It’s a kind of Maggie.
With the aid of someone who could manage the feat of putting pictures and music together (probably anyone but me) - a little something to tell students at Liverpool why they should Vote for Laurie. Hope everyone is enjoying the elections and the other candidates have gotten through the Hangover Day campaigning as I just about did!

Voting is now open in order for to decide who your Student Representative Officers will be (including the role of Guild President) and your Student Trustees
If you haven’t decided who to vote for, take your time and read all the posts on this site. You have up until results night, next Friday (25th March) to vote.
This year’s joint results night takes place from 7pm in the LGoS Courtyard.
